CASE STUDY: How Lulu found her home away from home

Jun 3, 2026 | 0 comments

Looking for trusted dog sitting in Thornhill? Lulu’s story shows how the right home environment can help a dog feel completely at ease. From making friends with Roxy to forming special bonds with our daughters, Lulu quickly settled into life at DogsRTheBest while her owners knew she was happy, safe, and well cared for.

Lulu is a five year old Havapoo with a personality that’s impossible not to love. According to her owners, everyone she meets is a potential new best friend. Whether she’s greeting people with enthusiastic tail wags, stopping to sniff every tree on a walk, or rolling happily in the grass, Lulu approaches life with curiosity and joy.

When Lulu first came to stay with us, it didn’t take long for us to see exactly why her family adores her so much.

A dog who makes friends everywhere she goes

Some dogs take time to warm up to new people and surroundings.

Lulu is not one of those dogs.

From the moment she arrived, her sweet nature shone through. She was friendly, gentle, eager to connect, and always happy to be around people. One of our first impressions was how well she listened and how naturally she adapted to our daily routine.

Her owners describe her as exceptionally loving towards both people and animals, and after spending time with her, we couldn’t agree more.

About the Havapoo: A friendly, family focused companion

Lulu is a Havapoo, a cross between a Havanese and a Poodle. This popular companion breed is known for combining the affectionate nature of the Havanese with the intelligence and adaptability of the Poodle.

According to PetMD, Havapoos are affectionate family companions who enjoy forming close bonds with both adults and children. Their adaptable personalities often help them settle comfortably into different home environments when given plenty of attention and interaction.

The breed brings together two well loved companion dogs. As noted in Wikipedia’s Havapoo overview, Havapoos were developed to combine many of the desirable traits of the Havanese and Poodle into one friendly, intelligent, and people oriented dog.

Rover also describes the Havapoo as a breed that thrives on companionship and enjoys being included in everyday activities.

After getting to know Lulu, those descriptions felt remarkably accurate.

Why Lulu’s owners chose DogsRTheBest

Like many dog owners, Lulu’s family wanted more than just someone to watch their dog while they were away.

After hearing positive recommendations from other dog owners in the Thornhill area, they decided to trust DogsRTheBest with Lulu’s care.

They were looking for a place where Lulu would be treated as part of the household, not simply looked after.

That’s something we work hard to provide for every dog who stays with us.

Settling in: Lulu, Roxy, and life at home

One of the things that stood out most during Lulu’s stays was how naturally she fitted in.

She quickly formed a lovely friendship with our dog, Roxy. Roxy has a calm and patient personality, and the two dogs complemented each other beautifully. Lulu adapted easily to Roxy’s energy, and it wasn’t long before they were happily spending their days together.

Inside the house, Lulu made herself comfortable just as quickly.

She enjoyed having her own space to relax, but she also loved curling up beside us on the couch and being close to everyone throughout the day. Whether she was quietly resting or joining in with whatever was happening around her, Lulu always seemed content.

According to her owners, she appeared comfortable, happy, and completely at home during her stays with us, which is exactly what we hope every dog experiences.

The special bond Lulu formed with our daughters

Every dog leaves their mark on our family in different ways.

Lulu’s connection with our daughters was particularly special.

She developed a beautiful friendship with our older daughter, Yael, who quickly became one of her favourite people. The two spent countless hours together. Yael would cuddle Lulu, carry her around the house, and enjoy quiet moments with her throughout the day.

At night, Lulu often chose to sleep beside Yael, something that both of them seemed to love.

She also formed a wonderful relationship with our youngest daughter, Yuval. Yuval, who has mild autism, responded incredibly well to Lulu’s calm and patient nature. Lulu was always gentle with her, and the two naturally got along. It was lovely to watch their bond grow over time.

For us, one of the most rewarding parts of caring for dogs is seeing these genuine connections develop.

Walks, cuddles, and Lulu’s favourite things

Lulu loved her daily walks, especially in the morning. She enjoyed taking her time, stopping to sniff every tree and investigate every interesting scent along the way.

More recently, she had also developed a love of rolling around in the grass, something that always seemed to make her very happy.

When she wasn’t out exploring, Lulu was usually happiest simply being near people. Whether she was curled up on the couch, enjoying attention from the family, or settling down beside Yael for the evening, she loved being included in everyday life.

The little quirk that made Lulu unforgettable

Every dog has their own unique habits.

Lulu had one that always made us smile.

Despite being perfectly capable of jumping onto a bed by herself, she wasn’t nearly as confident about getting back down again.

Whenever she found herself stranded, Lulu would make sure everyone knew about it.

A few determined barks later, someone from the family would come to her rescue.

We always tried to remember to help her down before leaving the room, but every now and then, especially when Nadav got distracted, we’d forget.

Fortunately, Lulu never hesitated to remind us.

It became one of those funny little routines that made her stay even more memorable.

What gave Lulu’s owners peace of mind

Leaving your dog behind while travelling can be difficult.

That’s why we make it a priority to keep owners updated throughout their dog’s stay.

Lulu’s family regularly received photos, videos, and messages so they could see how she was doing and enjoy seeing her settle into life with us.

Seeing Lulu relaxed, comfortable, and enjoying herself helped them feel confident that she was in good hands.

Lulu’s family shares their experience

One of the greatest compliments we can receive is knowing that a family feels completely comfortable leaving their dog in our care.

After Lulu’s stay, her owners shared these kind words:

“I would definitely recommend Dogs The Best to other dog owners.

Dogs in their care are treated with respect, love and attention one does not often see in other places.

Lulu was happy, safe and well looked after while we were away.

And that made us happy and relaxed on our vacations.

Thank you Ainav and Nadav for providing such a good service to us.

Keep up the good work!”
