Canadian Pet Expo: A Fun, Family Friendly Day Out for Pet Lovers in the Greater Toronto Area
Our Canadian Pet Expo Mississauga Family Visit
We came across a great local event that runs a few times a year, and it turned out to be a genuinely enjoyable and good value day out for the whole family. If you love animals, or work with them like we do, it is well worth experiencing.
This post shares our Canadian Pet Expo Mississauga experience from a family and dog owner perspective.
A couple of weeks ago, we headed to the Canadian Pet Expo as a family with our two daughters, aged 6 and 9, and our 10 year old dog, Roxy. From the moment we arrived, there was a real buzz. It felt like a shared space for people who genuinely care about animals, which made it easy to settle in and enjoy the day.
The event is held at The International Centre, located at 6900 Airport Road in Mississauga. It is a large, well known venue for trade shows and events across the Greater Toronto Area, which simply refers to the wider Toronto region and surrounding cities. The space itself worked really well for this type of event. It is open, easy to navigate, and set up to handle both crowds and animals comfortably.
When entering with a dog, there is a quick check in process to confirm responsibility and safety expectations. It is straightforward and helps keep things running smoothly given how many pets are attending.

What We Enjoyed at the Canadian Pet Expo Mississauga
As we walked through the different sections, what stood out most was the variety. It was not just about dogs, although there were plenty. We saw cats, reptiles, and a bird section that quickly became one of the highlights of our day. We spent quite a bit of time there, especially with the parrots and cockatoos. The kids were completely drawn in, and honestly, so were we.
The exhibitor mix was also strong. There were well known brands like Amazon and Whiskas alongside more specialised businesses such as Tru North Grooming. That balance made it interesting because you could both discover new products and have real conversations with people who work closely with animals every day.
According to the official website, “The Canadian Pet Expo is a pet friendly, family friendly event where you can shop, play, and learn all about pets.” That description felt accurate. The day naturally flowed between exploring booths, watching demonstrations, and simply enjoying being around other pet owners.
A few moments from the day that stood out for us:
- Watching live dog shows that kept the kids engaged
- Meeting other dog owners and having relaxed, genuine conversations
- Letting the kids interact safely with a wide range of animals
- Spending time in the bird area with some incredible parrots
There were also live demonstrations and shows running throughout the day, which added energy and gave the kids something to look forward to as we moved around.

Overall, it was a really positive experience for us. It reminded us why we enjoy being part of the pet community, not just through our work, but as a family. Events like this bring people together in a simple, meaningful way.
